hiking with dad...

I made this card for my dad for his birthday and it also fits for one of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges going on this week. Last year I made a card for each and every challenge. This year I'll have time to make a few. Check out the challenges if you are interested. You have to be a fan club member to do so... but it is so worth it. Lots of fun! Check out the Splitcoast blinky on my sidebar for more information.

I scanned an old photo of my dad and me and my sister and brother and cut it out to make it look like a polaroid photo. Got this idea from my friend Maureen who makes wonderful photo cards for her family.

Card ingredients:

Stamps: Verve Making a Statement
Paper: My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday and Miss Caroline DP, SU! crumb cake
Ink: SU! Choc chip
Accessories: crochet thread, dimensionals

Have a great day!

... a little birdie told me...

...about this week's CASE Study Blog challenge. This is the last week with muse Kristii Lockart. Here is my card.

Card ingredients:

Stamps: SU! A Little Birdie Told Me
Paper: SU! crumb cake, PTI aqua mist, Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer
Ink: versafine onyx black
Accessories: Wilton doily, crochet thread, button

Here is Kristii's card that inspired my card. I was inspired by Kristii's bird and her embossed doilies and went from there. I pulled out an oldie but goodie Stampin' Up! stamp set: A Little Birdie Told Me.

Have a great day wherever you are!

Verve Birthday Diva Dare

Here is my entry for the Birthday Diva Dare going on at Verve right now. The dare was to make a card or a project with a birthday theme to celebrate a number of divas that are having birthdays in the month of July. The owner, Julee, is included in this. I decided to make a card and a gift bag for this dare. I decorated a glassine bag with lots of yummy DP from Simple Stories Fabulous. Love these stickers from this collection: so cute with their little sayings.

Card ingredients:

Stamps: Verve Making a Statement, Chicks Rule, Blue Skies, Tag Time
Paper: SU! crumb cake, PTI vintage cream, aqua mist, Simple Stories Fabulous DP
Ink: PTI aqua mist (stamped off once), SU! choc chip
Accessories: Verve dies, Simple Stories stickers, SU! seam binding, library clip, button, crochet thread, cotton lace (Ellen Hutson)

Have a great day!

wishing you sunny days!

I hope that you are enjoying sunny days in your corner of the world! This card is for two challenges over at Splitcoaststampers. The first is a sketch for the CAS challenge of the week and the second is this week's colour challenge to use real red, island indigo and wonder wisteria. At first I didn't know what I was going to do to match the colours, but then I discovered that I had bought a sample pack of the SU! in-colors last fall. Yay! I made the square frame by embossing a square nestability on the card front. The stamps and die-cuts are Verve. I'm loving these loopy blooms!

Happy Birthday, sweet thing!

This week's Play Date Cafe challenge is to use the following colours: mint, tulip, coral and soft yellow. I was stumped by this challenge, but then the idea of an ice cream cone came to me. I only seem to use Papertrey Ink's Sweet Thing stamp set in the summer and I hadn't used it yet this year. It was high time!

Here is my card:

Although I used the colours for the challenge, I didn't stick to the inspiration photos. My colours seem a lot brighter. As I said in an earlier post, you just never know where the inspiration will take you when you are creating a card!

Card ingredients:

Stamps: PTI Sweet As Can Be
Paper: PTI white, Bitty Dot Basics DP, SU! crumb cake
Ink: versafine onyx black
Accessories: PTI Sweet As Can Be dies, texture plate, dimensionals

Have a great day!
